The German MS Society (DMSG) has launched a new mobile and web app to help strengthen cognitive function. The project includes scientifically designed exercises to coach memory, attention and executive functions such as problem solving.

The website explains that whilst there is no one generally accepted uniform treatment for cognitive problems in MS, therapies are available which need to be tailored to the individual.

These non-pharmacological treatments are called ‘neuropsychological therapy’. They are divided into 3 major categories:

  1. Training: strengthen weakened and existing skills
  2. Compensation: develop strategies to compensate for deficits
  3. Psychological care: reduce fears and strengthen self-confidence
