Claudio Conforti , Italy
Claudio Conforti was born in Rome, Italy, in 1949. He studied at the Rome University where he graduated in chemical engineering. Until his retirement in 2006, he worked in an engineering company, in the processing, commercial and quality assurance departments.
He was diagnosed with MS in 1992 and since then has been very active in the Italian MS Society (AISM). He was a member of the former AISM Persons with MS Committee and from 1995-2006 a board member of his local MS branch in Rome where he dealt with media communication (newspapers, magazines, radio and TV) for fundraising and social events. As the voice of the Italian PwMS, he took part in the MS Awareness Days promoted by EMSP at the European Parliament.
From 2003-2007 he represented AISM as a board member of the Italian Federation for Overcoming Disability (an umbrella organisation of more than 40 different groups for disabled people). In 2007 he was elected as a member of AISM’s National Board.
Since 2002 Claudio has represented the Mediterranean region on the PwMSIC Advisory Group and taken on the role of Vice Chair of the PwMSIC.
As he is fond of learning and practising foreign languages, Claudio enjoys working and building relationships with societies in other countries. As regards MSIF activities, his wish is to encourage contacts with newly established MS societies to help them in their development.
