France

Daniel Brunier

Daniel Brunier, an engineer and currently an independent consultant in human resources, was diagnosed with MS in 1998.

He has worked with the Ligue Française contre la Sclérose en Plaques for 4 years. From 2003 - 2005 he was CEO and today continues as a volunteer focusing on creating and establishing international contacts and the Ligue’s MS and Employment project.

Germany

Dr Pia Marks

Dr Marks was born in 1959 and her first MS symptoms appeared when she was about 20 years old; her diagnosis was confirmed in 1990 and she now uses a wheelchair in order to move about.

Her studies were in molecular biology and she worked in Germany and the USA before retiring in 1996.

She has been involved in various regional advisory committees for the German MS Society for many years. Since 1998 she has been a member of the German Federal Patient Advisory Board.

She enjoys spending time with her family; her husband, who also has MS, their daughter and her two stepchildren, aged 19 and 21. Dr Marks' hobbies include reading, board games, cinema and music. Within MS her special interests are in research and families with MS.

Greece

Constantine Michalakis

Constantine is a graduate of the Department of History at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has a postgraduate degree in Balkan history.

He writes articles on historical subjects and has published his own book. For the past seven years he has worked as a teacher in a high school.

Constantine was diagnosed with relapse-remitting MS in 1991 and has been involved in the Greek MS Society Executive Committee for the past 13 years. He has contributed to changes in legislation concerning the rights of people with MS and continues to fight to improve the quality of life for people with MS and their families.
