Immune response
The immune response refers to the activity of the immune system following infection or injury. A complex cascade of reactions takes place:
  • signalling molecules are released
  • local temperature is raised
  • blood vessels dilate and become more permeable
  • several different types of white blood cell are summoned to the site to remove the foreign body and/or repair the damage
