Peer Baneke, CEO whose father had MS, joined MSIF in 2007 after 8 years as General Secretary of the European Council on Refugees and Exiles. Before that he worked with Amnesty International in the Netherlands. In 1983 he moved to London to join the organisation’s global headquarters. He was Head of Campaigning and later managed the organisation’s responses to human rights crises. He has an MA in sociology and speaks Dutch and English, and a reasonable level of French and German.

Zoe Burr, Head of International Development joined MSIF in September 2006. She has a BA in Hispanic Studies and Politics and has spent time teaching in Peru and Portugal. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese. Prior to joining MSIF, she worked in both the Events and Campaigns and Communications Office at the mental health charity, Rethink, for two years.

Lisa Carpendale, Finance Manager (Maternity Cover) is working for MSIF on maternity cover until February 2010. For the past nine years Lisa has worked in finance, mainly at Finance Manager levels, within the arts and charity sectors. She has worked for a number of arts venues and not-for-profit organisations such as the Roundhouse, Riverside Studios, Reuters Foundation and Central St Martin’s.
Dhia Chandraratna, Head of International Scientific and Medical Research joined MSIF in February 2008 with six years experience in scientific and medical research. She has a BA and Ph.D. in Genetics and prior to joining the federation worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) on Alzheimer’s disease.
Sarah Finch, Publications Manager (Maternity Cover)/Administration Manager joined MSIF in June 2009. She works as a project manager in the Advocacy and Communications team. Sarah also manages the MSIF Secretariat office and administers the MSIF Board and Council meetings.
Before joining MSIF Sarah worked for 13 years as a communications consultant working in the UK NGO sector, and was previously Information Officer and Editor at Friends of the Earth. She has a BA in English Literature.

Jo Pennell, Finance and Administration Manager joined the Federation with six years experience of finance in the charity sector. Having begun work in an administrative role for an international charity, she moved into finance. Jo is furthering her financial studies and will be combining both her administrative and finance skills in her role with MSIF.

Helen Regan, Advocacy and Communications Manager joined MSIF in August 2008. She previously worked for Alzheimer's Disease International as Membership and Events Manager where she worked on an annual awareness raising day and trained member charities in advocacy and media relations. She has an MA in Development Studies and BA in Media, Communication and Cultural Studies.

Lucy Summers, Publications Manager joined MSIF in April, 2006. Originally from New Zealand, Lucy has a BA and an MRRP. Prior to joining the Federation, she worked as editor of the UK Parkinson’s Disease Society's magazine and other publications. Her role before that was Communications Project Manager for a New Zealand mental health charity, and previously, project editor for Dorling Kindersley (DK) book publishers in London.

Ruth Whitbread, Fundraising Manager previously held senior positions in a number of organisations and most recently worked for Age Concern England as their Head of Grant Giving Bodies.
She also worked for international NGOs, as a Programmes Manager for Village Service Trust and as a fundraiser in the UK for Oxfam.
Barnaby Dumbell, IT Manager joined the Federation in May 1997 as Online Editorial Assistant to the Managing Editor of the World of MS web site. Between his degree in Product Design and joining the Federation he worked as both a web designer and 3d animator. Having left the Federation in May 2000 he has returned as the full time IT Manager.
