Campaign for the Ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Sign the petition below to join the global campaign for the ratification of the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (the Convention) and the Optional Protocol by your government and the governments of other countries.

We the undersigned note and welcome the launch on 30 March 2007 of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Convinced that this convention will bring great improvements to the quality of life of many people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and of others with disabilities, we urge our government and governments of all other countries to ratify the Convention and the associated Optional Protocol, thereby supporting its introduction into international law and its universal adherence.

Once the Convention has been ratified by 20 countries it has the potential to dramatically improve the lives of many people with MS and provide legal backing in international law for the realisation of MSIF’s Principles to Promote the Quality of Life of People with MS (QoL Principles ).

Kofi Annan"Too often those living with disabilities have been seen as objects of embarrassment, and at best, of condescending pity and charity. …On paper, they have enjoyed the same rights as others; in real life, they often have been relegated to the margins and denied the opportunities that others take for granted."
Kofi Annan, upon the adoption of the Convention
December 2006

The campaign will run for one year from October 2007 to October 2008. The names of all of the people who signed the petition will be delivered in a symbolic way simultaneously at several events to appropriate targets determined by MS societies and MSIF.
