Evelyn Nicholson Award for International Caregiver

This annual award, established in 1994, honours caregiver Evelyn Nicholson and recognises people who are, or who have been, volunteer caregivers to people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and devotion in their support.
The objectives of the award are to:
- recognise the importance of the role of volunteer caregivers to people with MS,
- create greater awareness of the importance of the volunteer caregiver in the lives of people with MS,
- give national societies the opportunity to offer a national award for volunteer caregivers.

The Award
The winner is awarded UK£500 towards the cost of any suitable product, service or activity identified at the nomination stage. In addition, the winner receives an MSIF certificate in recognition of their commitment and dedication.
All candidates receive an MSIF certificate acknowledging their personal commitment to those affected by MS. |
Eligibility
Any person who is, or has been, a volunteer caregiver to a person with MS. Candidates do not have to be a relative of a person with MS and may be a volunteer caregiver to one or more persons with MS.

Nomination of Candidates
National MS societies must nominate candidates. Nominations are evaluated using the following criteria:
A whom the candidate cares for, B the candidate’s involvement with their national MS society, local branch or community and/or how they have made it possible for the person/people they care for to become involved, C what makes the candidate stand out from other caregivers, D any additional information about the candidate that may be relevant.
Only one nomination per national MS society may be submitted.

Deadline
The nominations deadline for the 2010 Evelyn Nicholson Award for International Caregiver is 26 February 2010
Nominations may be edited by the MSIF Secretariat to ensure that they are as complete as possible. |
Selection
The PwMSIC Executive Committee evaluate the nominations. The fact that English may not be the first language of nominating national MS societies will be taken into consideration.
The winner will be announced at the April 2010 MSIF Board Meeting in London, UK and in Making Connections. |
