In March 2007, Sophie Froger, a former attorney from France who has MS, is undertaking a dogsled expedition across Quebec, Canada, to challenge herself and to raise awareness of MS.
Sophie sees the expedition as an opportunity for her to consolidate many of the things dear to her: wide-open country, snowy landscapes, dogs and nature. At the same time, it will be a chance to challenge herself physically and emotionally, in spite of MS.
Most of all, Sophie would like to use this dog sledding experience to make MS better known, to demonstrate through her personal story that "...medical research is starting to bear fruit and that mental strength can help to overcome an illness and a handicap."
In March 2005, Sophie Froger founded her own organisation, ASEP 18, which gives moral support to those who have been diagnosed with and are dealing with the consequences of MS. She also uses her knowledge of law to help others to complete applications for government assistance.
After several months of intense physical training, extensive research, countless meetings and the recruitment of sponsors, the expedition, “GRAND NORTH 2007", is taking shape and Sophie's dream is gradually coming true.
The race, two weeks in duration, will begin in Girardville, Quebec, Canada on March 18, 2007.
