MSIF Global Dinner Party 2006 a great success!

Global Dinner Party - 25 February 2006In February 2006, MS supporters around the world hosted Global Dinner Party events for family and friends to raise awareness of MS and raise funds for MS projects. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Plasma cerebrosterol and magnetic resonance imaging measures in multiple sclerosis

This study found correlations between the cerebrosterol-cholesterol ratio in plasma of MS patients and conventional MRI parameters, while investigating the potential of cerebrosterol as a marker of neurodegeneration.

Imaging of inflammatory lesions at 3.0 Tesla in patients with clinically isolated syndromes suggestive of multiple sclerosis: a comparison of fluid-attenuated inversion recovery with T2 turbo spin-echo

This study compares the sensitivity of T2 turbo spin-echo and FLAIR sequences in detecting inflammatory lesions in patients with clinically isolated syndromes suggestive of MS. FLAIR was found to be more sensitive.

Modification of MRI criteria for multiple sclerosis in patients with clinically isolated syndromes

The McDonald criteria are used in the diagnosis of MS, and this paper describes a modification which allows an increased sensitivity of diagnosis in patients who have had a single clinical episode.

Home versus outpatient administration of intravenous steroids for multiple-sclerosis relapses: a randomised controlled trial

This study compares the efficacy, safety, cost and patient experience when intravenous steroids for acute relapse are given at home or in hospital. Co-ordination of care was significantly improved in the home setting, and sometimes cost was reduced, with other outcome measures equivalent between the groups.
