Summaries of all the latest research findings on MS selected by a team based at the Institute of Neurology, London.
Structure of WM bundles constituting the working memory system in early multiple sclerosis: A quantitative DTI tractography study.

The authors, using a recently introduced MRI technique, looked at the mechanisms underlying memory impairment in people with MS. They found that following damage, people’s brains tended to react to increase the number of connections between nerves.

The endocannabinoid system is dysregulated in multiple sclerosis and in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis.

The authors looked at the role of endocannabinoids, a group of molecules, in the development of human MS and its animal model. They found that these could play an important role in the pathogenesis of both diseases.

Multiple sclerosis: Is there neurodegeneration independent from inflammation?

The author looked at the role of inflammatory processes in the different stages of MS. He points out that, according to recent studies, inflammation seems to be present in all stages of the disease, even if the patterns are different.

Influence of CCR5-Delta32 genotype in Spanish population with multiple sclerosis.

The authors, studying the complex genetic component of MS, found that a gene could have a protective effect against this disease.
