Regional variations in the prevalence of multiple sclerosis in French farmers
The authors looked at the number of people with MS among French farmers. They concluded that France is among the countries of medium to high number of cases and confirmed the previously noted effect of latitude on prevalence.

Early prediction of the long term evolution of multiple sclerosis: the Bayesian Risk Estimate for Multiple Sclerosis (BREMS) score.
The authors applied a recently developed clinical score to people with MS. They found it to be useful in predicting the risk of reaching a progressive phase during the course of the disease.

Autoimmune disease in families with multiple sclerosis: a population-based study
In this large study, the authors studied the number of other common autoimmune diseases in people with MS and their families. They found them to be no more prevalent than in the general population. In addition, they found that woman knew more details about their family medical history than men.

Quantitative diffusion weighted imaging measures in patients with multiple sclerosis
The authors used a recently developed MRI technique to detect subtle damage in the brain tissues of people with MS, and found that this was linked with clinical measures of disability.

Natural history of multiple sclerosis with childhood onset
The authors studied the disease course in people with childhood onset MS. They found that these people take longer to reach the progressive stage of the disease and are slower to accumulate irreversible disability than those with adult onset.
authors: Renoux C, Vukusic S, Mikaeloff Y, Edan G, Clanet M, Dubois B, Debouverie M, Brochet B, Lebrun-Frenay C, Pelletier J, Moreau T, Lubetzki C, Vermersch P, Roullet E, Magy L, Tardieu M, Suissa S, Confavreux C; Adult Neurology Departments KIDMUS Study Group.

MSIF research grant recipient reports on her experiences
2006 Du Pré Grant recipient, Gabrièle Piaton
"This training period allowed me to acquire new expertise in the tissue culture model of central nervous system (CNS) myelination. I have also gained a better overview of the complex relationships affecting oligodendrocyte (OL) cell biology, which are involved in remyelination - an understanding of which could be relevant in the development of new therapeutic strategies promoting remyelination in disorders such as MS." Gabrièle Piaton
