Interferon beta in secondary progressive multiple sclerosis: Daily clinical practice

This study on 146 people with secondary progressive MS found that patients with two or more relapses in the two years before starting treatment with interferon beta experienced a higher risk of clinical deterioration over time.

Normal-appearing brain T1 relaxation time predicts disability in early primary progressive multiple sclerosis

The authors looked at a newly developed imaging technique, T1 relaxometry, in patients with primary progressive MS. They found that it correlated with clinical disability over time and has prognostic potential.

Activation of the subventricular zone in multiple sclerosis: Evidence for early glial progenitors

In this postmortem study, the authors found that some stem cells located in the adult brain are activated in response to MS giving rise to new myelin-producing cells. These stem cells could be the target for future therapeutic strategies in MS.
