Discordant white matter N-acetylasparate and diffusion MRI measures suggest that chronic metabolic dysfunction contributes to axonal pathology in multiple sclerosis

The authors used two recently developed MRI techniques in people with MS to conclude that metabolic dysfunction contributes to neuron damage independent of structural damage.

Recovery from optic neuritis: an ROI-based analysis of LGN and visual cortical areas

The authors studied the mechanisms underlying the recovery from optic neuritis, one of the most common symptoms in MS. They found evidence of early brain reorganisation.

fMRI changes in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis patients complaining of fatigue after IFNbeta-1a injection

The authors, using a recently introduced MRI technique, looked at the fatigue occurring in people with MS after injections of interferon-beta. They found it to be caused by dysfunction of specific brain areas.

Interferon-beta therapy reduces CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell reactivity in multiple sclerosis

The authors looked at the mechanism of action of interferon-beta in preventing relapses in MS. They found that it could be related to a reduction in the number of immunological cells acting against the nerves.
