MSIF 2007 Du Pré Grants update

MSIF has awarded a further two Du Pré Grants to young MS researchers in the second round of the 2007 awards. The researchers, Dr Jennifer Somerfield from New Zealand and Dr Ingrid van der Mei from the Netherlands, will undertake MS research projects in the UK and USA respectively.

This expert panel review looks at OCT, a new non-invasive way of looking at nerve fibre loss in MS, which may be very useful in future trials.

Prognostic value of high-field proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy in patients presenting with clinically isolated syndromes suggestive of multiple sclerosis

This study found that markers of nerve fibre damage, measured with a recently developed MRI technique, helped predict which people would go on to develop MS after a single attack of neurological dysfunction.
