The 2007 McDonald Fellowship
We are delighted to announce that, further to our objective of stimulating MS research, we are awarding a record five McDonald Fellowships to allow five promising young MS researchers from Argentina, Brazil, Romania, Spain and Thailand to spend two years working in some of the world’s leading MS research centres.

MS 2007 Global Bike Ride
Some of you may remember Scott McDermid, who was raising funds for MSIF and the Tyler Hamilton Foundation on the MS Global 2007 Bike Ride, run by the Tyler Hamilton Foundation. Scott raised over $8,000 for the fight against Multiple Sclerosis on the week-long cycling ride in the Italian Dolomites from 5-12 September.

Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging analysis of the corticospinal tract in multiple sclerosis
The authors used different recently introduced MRI techniques to study the cortico-spinal tract, which is a group of fibres responsible for mobility, in a group of people with MS. They found that these techniques are very sensitive in detecting abnormalities in this brain region.

Azathioprine for multiple sclerosis
This review looks at all the information available for the immuno-modulatory agent azathioprine in MS. The study concludes that evidence suggests that azathioprine is an appropriate MS treatment, though patients should be monitored for side effects.
