I have no intention of slowing down or stopping my career. I protest my MS every day and I would like people to do the same in a positive way. You can’t predict what is going to happen with MS and I’d hate it to take away anything from my life.

Promotion of central nervous system remyelination by induced differentiation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells
MS is characterised by demyelination of the central nervous system. Although in earlier stages a satisfactory recovery of this myelin loss may occur, in later stages this remyelinating process may fail, provoking persistent damage in the myelin and afterwards in the axon. The authors of this study have found an agent which is able to promote myelin regeneration both in vivo and in vitro. The findings of this study suggest that this new agent should be considered as a possible treatment for MS.

Pain and quality of life in the early stages after multiple sclerosis diagnosis: a 2-year longitudinal study
MS is a complex disease. From the clinical point of view, it can be extremely heterogeneous. When pain appears, the quality of life may be significantly reduced. This study shows that pain may occur in a high percentage of people with MS even at early stages of the disease. This finding suggests that pain should be carefully investigated and treated since the very beginning of the disease.

Prenatal and perinatal factors and risk of multiple sclerosis
The cause of MS is probably multifactorial and remains unknown. It had been suggested that prenatal and perinatal exposure to factors related to immunity could play a role in the development of MS in adulthood. The authors of this study aimed to investigate such immune-related prenatal or perinatal factors in a large group of people diagnosed with MS. Only modest correlations were found. The authors suggest that the results should be cautiously interpreted and stress the need of further studies to clarify the role that those prenatal and perinatal factors might actually play.
