The MS Society of Vienna has now chosen a red rose as symbol for the resistance against the devasting effects of MS.
The title means more than a wordplay – the German term for “Multiple Sclerosis” is “Multiple Sklerose” and contains the word for the flower “rose”. The rose should encourage people with MS to cope better with the disease in daily life. Despite many impacts, life can be filled with joy.
The first plantation of the rose “Multiple SkleROSE” took place during an official ceremony on 4 June 2007 and was attended by many members of the MS society as well as local politicians and representatives of the Austrian media. Karl Vass, MS specialist and president of the MS Society of Vienna, and Ursula Hensel, CEO, assisted by the politicians, planted the roses. The plants were sponsored by the Garden Bureau of Vienna.
