Canadian GDP 08 hosts set a new fundraising record, planning, cooking, and entertaining family and friends for a great cause. Events were held across the country from British Colombia to Québec.
One such event was hosted by Shannon Smith of Toronto, Ontario:
“Every year I theme my GDP - this year’s event was a Bob Fosse inspired night (pictured, below). No one knew the theme until they arrived - then each guest picked out a top hat, gloves, a sparkly bow tie and fake eyelashes.
Mid-way through the evening a professional dance instructor from Pulse Dance Works taught the guests the Broadway dance to "Hey Big Spender". It was a great way to get people dancing and enjoying the theme. Games and prizes kept the night going until late.
Thanks to the support of all my friends and family we were able to raise twice the amount of my pre-set fundraising goal! A special thank you to Nadine at Pulse Works Dance Studio, who donated half of her fee back into the MS Society fundraising pool.
It was a wonderful night for an incredible cause and I am happy to have been a part of the 2008 GDP.”
