MS Society of Canada to host a webcast on CCSVI

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada will be holding a webcast for the public and the media on the topic of chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) and MS.

Fast Forward, the commercial drug development arm of the US National MS Society, has issued a call for research proposals for novel therapeutic approaches to prevent, treat or reverse nervous system damage in MS.

Success for UK pilot scheme

Researchers at Stanford University, USA, have halted treatments for chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) according February's edition of the journal Annals of Neurology.

Ampyra – video webcast now available

Ampyra, the first therapy specifically approved to treat a symptom of MS, is now available in the US on prescription. The US National MS Society have produced a video webcast including information about this therapy and who can take it.

First glimpse of MS studies to be presented at AAN meeting

The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) has issued press releases about two MS studies: "Drinking milk during pregnancy may lower baby's risk of MS" and "Migraine more common in women with MS," which will be presented at the ANN annual meeting in Toronto, Canada, 10-17 April, 2010.

Gilenia receives priority review from FDA

Gilenia, the oral drug for relapsing MS formerly known as FTY720, has been granted priority review by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). An approval decision could take as little as six months.
