Multiple sclerosis is generally thought to be launched by the immune cells known as T cells, but evidence is growing on the role of immune B cells in the attack on the brain and spinal cord.
Yufen Qin, MD, and colleagues (University of California, Irvine) now show how B cells may potentially damage nerve fibers in MS.
