The Pan-Asian Committee on Treatment and Research in MS (PACTRIMS) held its first congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 21-22 November 2008.
“This is a truly momentous event – PACTRIMS brings together almost 60% of the world population into a cohesive organised force to improve our understanding of MS and improve the management of all those affected by it.” Alan Thompson, Chairman, MSIF International Medical and Scientific Board.
The congress was attended by over 350 participants medical professionals from 21 countries. The scientific programme covered a range of MS topics from epidemiology to diagnosis, management and new treatments. The congress included oral and poster presentations from Australia, Canada, Iran, Korea and Japan. PACTRIMS members come from Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. The 2009 congress will be held in Hong Kong, next November.
