On 17 April, over 80 people attended the MS Awareness Meeting in Jeddah, organised by Dr. Hussein Algahtani (pictured in full article) and sponsored by the King Khalid National Guard Hospital, for the Western Region.
The meeting also welcomed visitors from several other Saudi cities. The majority of attendees were people with MS and their friends and family members.
At the beginning of the meeting, each attendee received a folder containing MS brochures in Arabic and a questionnaire was distributed and collected during the first hour of proceedings.
The seminar focused on MS awareness and talks by the doctors present included recent advances in MS medications and how to cope with the disease. There was a question and answer session at the end of each presentation, and attendees were also able to talk to the doctors during the lunch break; the local media also held interviews with certain doctors at the event.
