Scotland on Sunday reports that doctors in Scotland are prescribing cannabis for MS sufferers before it has been licensed on the NHS.
They are obtaining the drug Sativex directly from the manufacturer in an attempt to relieve the pain of MS sufferers.
Canada has already approved the use of Sativex as a prescription drug.
Doctors can prescribe unlicensed drugs in the UK if they believe it is in the best interest of their patient, but they remain liable for any unforeseen consequences.
