Alan Lindsley has been made MBE (Member of the British Empire) in the New Year Honours List, for his services to the Sunderland branch of the UK MS Society. The MBE is a British order of chivalry established in 1917 by King George V.
Alan was also awarded MSIF’s 2004 Evelyn Nicholson Award for International Caregiver of the Year.
Mr Lindsley said,
“When I got that award I was astonished, I thought that was as good as it got, but to receive (the MBE) as well is fantastic”
MS Society Scotland chairwoman and UK trustee Denise Fagg was also made an MBE. Denise, who worked as chief executive of the Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Services for 10 years until 2001, has campaigned for recognition for all carers, concentrating on young carers’ issues.
