Over the next two months hundreds of thousands of people will join the National MS Society’s (NMSS) 2008 Walk MS and Challenge Walk events throughout the US. An experience like no other, participants walk together to make a powerful statement, and to keep moving towards a cure.
Established in 1989 as the NMSS's only simultaneous national fundraising event and key awareness building weekend, the event attracted 42,000 participants at 42 sites to raise $4 million. In 2007, more than 200,000 Walk MS and Challenge Walk participants in nearly 600 locations covering all 50 states raised more than $64 million for the MS cause.
Walk MS and Challenge Walk event participants are a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now - to move together towards a world free of multiple sclerosis. Money raised during the events help people with MS address the challenges of living with MS; funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programmes and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.
