The MSIF Evelyn Nicholson Award for 2007, which was won by Susana Carballido Perdigón, was presented to her during a ceremony in Montevideo, Uruguay on 1 July.
The award was given during events to mark the Latin American Day of MS, and Susana was presented with her gift, certificate and flowers by members of the Multiple Sclerosis Uruguay staff. Susana is pictured here with her two daughters Lorena and Marianella and their father Eduardo.
Magdelana Gari from the Multiple Sclerosis Uruguay said "There were smiles and tears, and all of us felt that we were part of something special. It was like building a symbolic bridge joining all our Latin-American countries, and at the same time, we felt that we were building bridges with the other continents too, through Susana's award."
