Over 60 delegates attended MSIF’s biannual Board and Committee Meetings in Montreal, Canada, from 13 to 15 September 2008.
Day one of the Board Meeting focused on MSIF’s commitment to supporting the development of new and emerging MS societies. Delegates listened to a presentation from Ali Hijjawi, President of Multiple Sclerosis Patients’ Friends Palestine, and were updated on current and future twinning projects and the MSIF Arabic Development Seminar. The meetings also served to further shape the launch of the first World MS Day, to be held on Wednesday 27 May 2009.
On Sunday 14 September, delegates enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Pointe-à-Callières Museum in Montreal’s old town. The dinner was hosted by the MS Society of Canada and was a great opportunity to mark the 60th anniversary of its establishment in Montreal. Reid and Evelyn Nicholson were invited to attend and, after making a moving speech, Evelyn presented Elisabeth Golding, winner of the 2008 Evelyn Nicholson Award for International Caregiver, with a bouquet of flowers.
