In its Strategic Plan 2008-2011, MSIF made it a key priority to provide support for the development and increased effectiveness of new and existing national MS societies. With a growing number of MS organisations operating in Arab-speaking countries, MSIF will be holding a Development Seminar in Cairo, Egypt.
The seminar, which is to be held on 19-20 February 2009, will consist of presentations, lectures and workshops by Arab-speaking representatives from the region, and those involved in the MS field from other countries around the globe. The aims of the seminar are to:
facilitate the sharing of information, skills and experience develop a regional MS strategy increase networking amongst MS organisations engage regional members with MSIF’s projects and programmes encourage a cohesive and collaborative approach to MS research
In preparation, MSIF International Development Manager, Zoe Burr, visited Cairo in December where she met with representatives from the Egyptian MS Society and the World Health Organization Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, both of whom are involved in the event.
