The annual Evelyn Nicholson Award for International Caregiver recognises the outstanding commitment and devotion shown by caregivers throughout the world. Since 2007, winners of the award have been given UK£500 to go towards the cost of a service, product or activity of their choice.
In 2007, Susana Carballido Perdigón from Uruguay used the monies to visit the MS Society of Argentina (EMA) headquarters to learn more about MS and to attend a training course on how to train other volunteers and caregivers in her country.
2008 winner, Elisabeth Golding from Norway, put the monies towards a respite break for a person with MS from her local branch. Thanks to Elisabeth, Maja Bolkan Kristiansen, accompanied by her sister Arnhild, visited Tenerife in January of this year.

This year’s winner, Dale Kempen plans to put her monies towards the cost of an electric hoist, which will assist the caregiver of an elderly person with MS.
The variety of activities and products, upon which the award monies have been spent, reflects the diverse needs of people with MS, and those who care for them.
