On Wednesday 24 June 2009 Zoe Burr, MSIF International Development Manager, attended the Rotary International Convention 2009 in Birmingham, UK. MSIF was invited to speak by the Rotarian Action Group for MS Awareness (RAGMSA).
RAGMSA is one of Rotary International's sixteen Action Groups and was established to promote MS awareness; encourage Rotarians and national MS societies to work together and to contribute, through fundraising activities, to MS research and improving the support available for people with MS. RAGMSA's Wednesday breakout session was attended by over 50 Rotarians with an interest in MS and the presentations were followed by a lively Q&A session.
Martin Taurins, RAGMSA Chairperson, provided an overview of the work being carried out by RAGMSA and the national and international projects and programmes they continue to support through their fundraising efforts. Zoe Burr encouraged those in attendance to contact their national MS society and get their club or district involved in the MS movement. Martin followed by emphasising the importance of strengthening RAGMSA and raising the profile of the disease within Rotary International.
