  World MS Day is here! US woman with MS reaches Everest summit, over 200 events in 61 countries, global campaign film launch in ten languages
The first World MS Day is truly set to raise awareness about MS and build global solidarity for the MS movement.

The global campaign film produced by MSIF and the German Hertie Foundation has been launched at www.worldmsday.org today. This features U2 song "Beautiful Day" and highlights the many different faces of MS. It will be available in ten languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

Just days before World MS Day, Lori Schneider, USA, who has MS, reached the summit of Mount Everest. You can read details of her progress online at: www.empowermentthroughadventure.com.

More than 200 events will take place in 61 countries. MSIF member society events include:

  • Argentina: open day

  • Australia: reception in Queensland

  • Austria: movie event

  • Belgium: "Roll for MS" sponsored cycle/ motorbike event

  • Canada: "Roll for MS" sponsored cycle/ motorbike event

  • Cyprus: fashion show

  • Czech Republic: cultural and social day

  • Denmark: fundraising campaign

  • Finland: awareness raising event

  • France: "Roll for MS" sponsored cycle/ motorbike event

  • Germany: awareness and advertising campaign

  • Greece: concert

  • Hungary: event in parliament

  • Iceland: open house and garden party

  • India: human chain awareness raising events

  • Iran: free physical and occupational therapy

  • Ireland: conference and fundraising campaign

  • Ireland: activity to promote member development

  • Italy: national awareness week

  • Latvia: concert

  • Luxembourg: "Roll for MS" sponsored cycle/ motorbike event

  • Mexico: information meeting

  • Netherlands: Global Dinner Party and Second Life music festival

  • Norway: research conference

  • Poland: concert

  • Portugal: Sing for MS

  • Romania: Global Dinner Party

  • Slovakia: day of hope: talks and cycle ride

  • Slovenia: national awareness week

  • Spain: awareness day

  • Sri Lanka: national awareness week

  • Turkey: concert and gala dinner

  • Uruguay: awareness campaign

  • USA: call for national health care reform

    More than 9000 people from 128 countries have shown their support by registering on the World MS Day website. You can help the global MS movement reach the target of 100,000 registrations and raise maximum awareness about the MS cause by:

  • registering yourself and/or your organisation

  • registering your World MS Day event

  • emailing all of your friends and colleagues and asking them to register (as an individual and/or an organisation)
