Agreement extends major MS database for world scientific community

A new contract between the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) and the Sylvia Lawry Centre for MS Research (SLC) in Munich will extend the availability of the most comprehensive database in the world to scientific study by researchers in the field.

New Chair of the International Medical and Scientific Board

On Tuesday September 27, 2005 the Council of the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) approved the election of Professor Alan Thompson, MD, FRCP, FRCPI Garfield Weston Professor of Clinical Neurology and Neuro-rehabilitation, Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, University College, London as Chairman of the International Medical and Scientific Board (IMSB).

2005 James D. Wolfensohn Award for International Person with MS

Every two years, the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) recognises the contribution of a person with MS in the fight against this debilitating disease. The James D. Wolfensohn Award is a travel grant to a person with MS and escort, for the purpose of attending the MSIF Biennial Council Meeting in recognition of their valuable contribution to the fight against MS.
MSIF is pleased to announce that the 2005 award has been given to Izabela Odrobińska from Poland for her outstanding work in building the Polish MS Society and developing and strengthening the links between the local MS society and the international MS community.

Ground-breaking research in Multiple Sclerosis

On behalf of the John and Birthe Meyer Foundation, Mrs. Birthe Meyer has presented the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Society with a donation of 12.4 million DKr. This amount will in full be directed towards international Multiple Sclerosis research at the Sylvia Lawry Centre in Munich.

UK Woman with MS Elected to Chair International Federation

Mrs Phillips, who has multiple sclerosis, has been chairman of the UK MS Society since 1998 and was a trustee for six years previously. She has been a member of the board of the International Federation since 1997.
