  Azathioprine for multiple sclerosis

summary: The objective of this study was to review studies of azathioprine, a drug which strongly suppresses the immune system, in treating MS. Although it reduced the relapse rate and progression at three years, there was a risk of potentially serious side effects. Further studies are needed to determine its role in the treatment of MS.
