Cognitive impairment after three decades of multiple sclerosis

summary: In some people with MS, some degree of cognitive dysfunction may appear eventually. In this paper the authors investigated long-term physical and cognitive outcome and the predictors of cognitive impairment in a group of people with MS. They found that after 30 years of disease duration almost a half of the population had some degree of cognitive impairment. They also found that a younger age at onset was associated with a higher prevalence of cognitive impairment.
