Impact on activities of daily living using a functional electrical stimulation device to improve dropped foot in people with multiple sclerosis, measured by the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure

summary: Dropped foot is a common problem following multiple sclerosis. In a randomised controlled trial, the authors studied 64 people with unilateral dropped foot who were assigned to either a group using a specific electrical stimulator or receiving physiotherapy exercises. They found that people with multiple sclerosis using this specific stimulator increased walking performance, compared to the exercise group and also experienced fewer falls.
