Epstein-Barr virus infection is not a characteristic feature of multiple sclerosis brain

summary: Previous studies have associated Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) with the pathogenesis of MS but its specific role is not known. Therefore, the authors investigated the presence of the virus in the brain of people with MS. The absence of virus in the brain suggested that EBV infection is unlikely to contribute to the formation of white matter lesions.
