Effect of parenteral cladribine on relapse rates in patients with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis: results of a 2-year, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study

summary: The aim of this placebo-controlled clinical trial was to investigate the beneficial effects of cladribine given subcutaneously in people with MS compared to placebo. The 84 patients in the study were divided into two groups. One group received cladribine first and a placebo afterwards and the other group received a placebo first and the cladribine afterwards. The results showed that cladribine was effective in people with MS mainly because it provoked a reduction in the relapse rate.
