Prognostic factors after a first attack of inflammatory CNS demyelination in children

summary: Children who have an episode of inflammation of the brain sometimes go on to develop MS, but not always. This study investigated which risk factors were important in predicting further episodes. They found that MRI appearances and the number of different areas of the nervous system involved were important. Some features which were previously thought to suggest a low likelihood of developing MS were not found to be good predictors in this study.
