summary: This study reviews the evidence for a new oral agent which is currently being trialled for treating MS: Fingolimod. It acts by reducing the number of circulating lymphocytes, and so suppresses the immune system. Adversely, it can affect the heart rhythm and suppress the production of white blood cells which fight infection.
