  Flupirtine as neuroprotective add-on therapy in autoimmune optic neuritis

summary: The authors studied the effects of flupirtine, a treatment usually used for chronic pain, in animal models of optic neuritis. They found that this medication seemed to protect retinal nerve cells. Further studies are needed to assess its effects in MS.
