summary: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN, a severe and disabling pain disorder) can appear in people with MS in a higher percentage than in the general population. Pharmaceutical treatment for this is not always satisfactory. The authors aimed to evaluate the long term outcome of 37 people with MS with TN who received a specific surgical treatment called gamma knife. Because of the reasonable pain control and the low morbidity associated with the treatment, the authors suggest that gamma knife could be a therapeutic option for MS-related trigeminal neuralgia.
