Interferon-beta(1b) in multiple sclerosis: effect on progression of disability and clinical markers of treatment response

summary: This study compared progression of disability in people with relapsing-remitting MS on beta-interferon with a control group from years ago who were not taking treatment. They reported that interferon delayed progression of disability over five years, although this was not a placebo controlled trial. They also found that the number of relapses in the early years predicted early relapse on beta-interferon treatment.
