summary: IFN beta is one of the first line treatments for relapsing-remitting MS. As not all patients have a satisfactory response to IFN beta, the development of criteria addressed to identify those patients who will have future treatment failure is essential, in order to be able to offer them other treatment options as soon as possible and avoid losing valuable time. The authors have found that the combination of clinical (presence of relapses, progression or both) and MRI data (presence of active lesions) at one year after starting IFN treatment, may help us to identify those people who will have a treatment failure in the following two and three years.
