summary: The diagnostic criteria for MS have changed in recent years, notably after 2001, when MRI criteria were incorporated. These criteria have evolved towards a more accurate and prompt diagnosis. However, the criteria have become more complex and their use can be quite difficult in day-to-day practice. An international panel of MS specialists has been working to simplify the current criteria while maintaining a high level of specificity. The authors have integrated the results of all these processes, directed to simplify the current criteria for MS, and launch this new proposal.
