Optical coherence tomography in clinically isolated syndrome: no evidence of subclinical retinal axonal loss

summary: The authors compared a group of people who had experienced a first episode compatible with MS with a group of healthy controls, by means of a new tool for quantifying axonal loss, the optical coherence tomography (OCT). They found that OCT measurements were not significantly different between people with a first episode of MS and healthy controls and also that OCT parameters, when measured after a first episode of MS, did not predict the appearance of a second episode.
