summary: The cause of MS is probably multifactorial and remains unknown. It had been suggested that prenatal and perinatal exposure to factors related to immunity could play a role in the development of MS in adulthood. The authors of this study aimed to investigate such immune-related prenatal or perinatal factors in a large group of people diagnosed with MS. Only modest correlations were found. The authors suggest that the results should be cautiously interpreted and stress the need of further studies to clarify the role that those prenatal and perinatal factors might actually play.
