summary: In this interesting paper, the authors looked at the different pathological patterns of MS lesion in post-mortem specimens. They identified proteins that were present in each of the different types. Many of the proteins were of unknown function, but some present in chronic active plaques were known to be involved in coagulation and inflammation pathways. They inhibited these proteins in the mouse model of MS with clinical benefit. The authors suggest that this is a good way of identifying new targets for potential treatment in MS.
