The acute and chronic relapsing phases of chronic relapsing experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (CR EAE) are ameliorated by the peroxynitrite decomposition catalyst, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis (4-sulfonatophenyl) porphyrinatoiron (III) chloride, (FeTPPS)

summary: In MS the pathology may involve chemical reactions called oxidation. In this study the authors investigated the effects of a molecule which prevents oxidation in experimental animal models. They found benefits when it was given before the disease started, which is hopeful but future studies are now required in people.
