Varicella-zoster virus in cerebrospinal fluid at relapses of multiple sclerosis.

summary: It is thought that MS is caused by a complex interaction between genetic predisposition and environmental factors, possibly such as viruses. In this study from Mexico, the authors identified the virus which usually causes chicken pox and shingles in the spinal fluid of people with MS during relapses. They hypothesize that it may be involved in the pathogenesis of MS.
