MSIF encourages the reproduction of all or any item on World of MS web site for personal, non-commercial use on the condition that copyright and source indications are also copied, no modifications are made and the material is copied entirely.

Prior to doing so MSIF requires the following:

  • That you acquire MSIF’s prior written authorisation to do so
  • That you agree to be responsible for all costs involved in reproducing the work including the cost of any translation
  • That you will not change the content of the original in any way. In particular, you will not edit or add any extra content or include any advertisements
  • That the copyright in any translation shall belong to MSIF and that in consideration of MSIF allowing you to publish a translation of its work you hereby assign all copyright and all other intellectual property rights wherever arising in the world in such translation to MSIF for the full period of copyright and any extensions and renewals;

The Multiple Sclerosis International Federation name, domain name and logo are trademarks of MSIF. Nothing contained within the World of MS Website may be construed as conferring any licence or right under any trademark or patent of MSIF or any third party.

Website link policy

The purpose of MSIF’s websites is to communicate information about MSIF and multiple sclerosis (MS) that is helpful and easy to find and use. Accurate health information on the Internet is vital, but sometimes difficult to identify. MSIF makes every effort to ensure that its website reflects up-to-date, objective and accurate facts about MS. It is hoped that any information will complement professional medical advice and help people to make any decisions that they face. The information provided on the website is designed to support, not replace, the relationship that may exist between a person with MS and their doctor or neurologist. To achieve this purpose, links to and from our website are generally encouraged. However, some restrictions and disclaimers are appropriate.

Links from MSIF's website

All links from our website must contain information that is relevant and related to our mission. MSIF’s mission is to collaborate with people affected by MS, health professionals, the international scientific community and national MS societies to lead the global MS movement by stimulating research into the understanding and treatment of MS and by improving the quality of life of people affected by MS.


Except as outlined below, links to a website are not permitted if the organisation or entity sponsoring the website has a political agenda or supports a particular political party or candidate. MSIF will not promote legislation, candidates or political parties on its website. No links will be allowed to private voter advocacy groups.

MSIF will link to national MS societies, relevant international organisations, donors, sponsors and funders.

MSIF does not accept fees or commissions of any kind for links, page views, user sessions or "hits" from or to our website.

MSIF will only link to providers of commercial products or services when acknowledging their support as donors, sponsors or funders. MSIF does not endorse the content, products, services or viewpoints expressed by linked sites. MSIF does not assume responsibility for the content of linked sites and does not independently verify or exert editorial control over information on linked sites.

Offering a link does not imply recommendation or approval from MSIF and the fact that we offer a link shall not be used for advertising or promotional purposes.

MSIF respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that your work has been copied on a linked site in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please notify our Advocacy and Communications Manager.

Removal process

Links from MSIF websites will be reviewed regularly and may be removed for the following reasons:

  • The link no longer points to the original information or resource to which it was intended to point.
  • The information pointed to by the link is inaccurate, misleading or otherwise violates the criteria and requirements set forth above in the section entitled Criteria.
  • Access to the information has become difficult due to non-standard formatting, lengthy download times, or intrusive advertising.
  • The link is permanently unreachable or remains unavailable for a lengthy period, especially if we are unable to contact the site manager about the site's status.
  • The external website fails to comply with the written linking agreement, if any.
  • Customers/clients/users of the externally linked site excessively burden the MSIF website user support system.

Links to the MSIF’s website

MSIF encourages appropriate links to MSIF websites on condition that the site contains information which we want the public to know. It is not technologically feasible to restrict links to our website. If you have come to our website from a link, no endorsement, recommendation or relationship of any kind should be implied.

Advance permission to link to MSIF websites is not necessary. However, be aware that MSIF website pages and subpages may change at any time without notice. Entities and individuals linking to the MSIF’s web site must continuously verify links to pages. Entities and individuals linking to MSIF websites shall not capture pages within frames, present content as its own, or otherwise misrepresent MSIF website content or misinform users about the origin or ownership of the content.
